✵may-may songuu✵

Solo exhibition commissioned by CFCCA, Manchester, 2020

✵may-may songuu✵ employs costumes, sculptures, growing specimens, animation, sound and large-scale drawings to create a story about the origins of appetite, and in turn, consumption, greed and the sharing and offering of food.

The telling of this story, across all elements of the installation, resists conventional language and familiar cultural reference points. Rather, this multi-layered narrative, woven with aspects of personal memories and sisterly relationship, occupies a mythical space between cultures, where the borders separating animals, vegetables, minerals and even entire worlds, begin to blur.
